This class is for people who want to taste Peruvian food and also want to learn how to make it at home! You’ll love the fun and relaxed atmosphere with no dull demo’s, because we believe in the hands-on approach.
Learn about Peruvian ingredients, practice culinary techniques, prepare classic Peruvian dishes and of course enjoy the lunch or dinner that you helped to create!
🍃 9:00 AM or 2:00 PM: We’ll pick you up from your accommodation and, with our expert chef and local tour guide, we’ll take you to one of our local markets located in the Surquillo district. Here, you’ll find a variety of native Peruvian products. Best of all, you’ll interact with local people and purchase the necessary ingredients to prepare the delicious dishes of your choice. After extensive collaboration with chefs, cooks, gourmets, and local food lovers, we’ve carefully selected four different cooking lessons. You’ll then choose from these delicious dishes:
FISH: The Peruvian dish we chose to cook with fish is “Pescado a la Chorrillana” (Main Course). We add fried onions, tomatoes, chili, and bay leaves. We add fish broth and then a simmered fish fillet, and it’s ready to eat. As a starter, we’ll cook together our national Peruvian dish called “Ceviche!” The most popular dish among Peruvians! It consists of small pieces of raw fish marinated in fresh, aromatic lemon juice, spring onions, boiled sweet potatoes mixed with or without Andean hot peppers.
CHICKEN; for the chicken we cook: “Ají de Pollo” (main dish but it is not spicy), consists of thin strips of chicken served with a creamy and spicy yellow sauce, made with ají amarillo (mild yellow chilies), cheese, milk, and crusty bread. As a starter, we will teach you how to prepare “Causa Limeña” Mashed organic yellow potatoes seasoned with lemon and ají (hot pepper), and stuffed with fresh local seasonal vegetables (it is a mild dish)
MEAT; our delicious “Lomo Saltado” (Main Course): slices of beef tenderloin sautéed with onion, tomato, chili (a hot but not spicy pepper), and more spices. Served with French fries and rice, we have our super delicious “Papa Rellena” (Stuffed Potato). Small balls made from mashed potatoes filled with either meat, vegetables, or quinoa. Once sealed and fried, it is served with salsa criolla (Criola sauce).
🍃 Option 4:
VEGETARIAN: Pimiento Relleno (Main Course): a stuffed pepper filled with fresh vegetables and organic herbs from the north of the country. Solterito (Starter): With peas, beans, quinoa! And olive oil, it is delicious. After shopping, we will head to our cozy kitchen, where we will enjoy a fruit festival! To cook, we use ceramic pots, just as our ancestors did. This way, we’ll keep all the flavor as natural as it is.
😋 This class is for people who love traditional food and want to prepare it at home! You’ll love the relaxed atmosphere without boring delays, because we believe in a hands-on approach. After the tour, we’ll take you back to your hotel, or if you prefer to walk, just let us know.
